Discover the Château d'Épinal

From the top of a rocky ridge, the remains of Épinal castle dominate the town and the Moselle valley at an altitude of 387m. Built in the middle of the 13th century, Épinal castle was destroyed at the end of the 17th century. Its ruins, long hidden in the vegetation, were rediscovered by the local population in the 1980s.

Although you can't visit the ruins of Épinal castle, you can still admire them up close from the castle grounds. The 27-hectare park is open to visitors free of charge:

A wildlife park with sheep, goats, llamas and donkeys, as well as farmyard animals (rabbits, hens, guinea fowl, etc.)
A medieval garden where ancient vegetables and plants grow
Children's play areas with zip lines, swings and slides
Vineyards and orchards
Walking trails
Historic remains such as the ruins of the piers of the old drawbridge and the old wash-house
Picnic tables

All year round, you can also take a gourmet break at the P'tit Resto, which offers hot and cold drinks as well as waffles, crêpes and ice creams.
